KANJI IS AVAILABLE FOR MULTI-FAITH SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE, LIFE-PASSAGE CEREMONIES, AND PASTORAL COUNSELING IN A ZEN BUDDHIST CONTEXT
He is also a founding teacher in the Rowe Center Certificate Training Program
in Spiritual Guidance.
In spiritual guidance sessions, Reverend Kanji offers deep, attentive listening and skilled mentoring in guiding you to your innate wisdom and compassion. Grounded in Zen Buddhist training, he brings perspectives of multiple world religions to accommodate your unique spiritual path, whatever it may be, and is adept as well in Jungian approaches. He is open, receptive, and intuitive. Specialties include spiritual issues related to: artists; working-class people; men's liberation from patriarchy; midlife passage; sacred warriorhood; Earth activism; life-threatening illness; and death, dying, and complicated grieving. His orientation is welcoming to everyone.
Kanji also conducts weddings and funerals and other life-passage ceremonies, and works closely with you to ensure that your ceremony is spiritually enriching and fulfilling in all the ways you long for it to be.
Ordained as a Zen Buddhist minister by Roshi Bernie Glassman of the Zen Peacemaker Order, and the first person to receive a Master of Divinity degree in Harvard Divinity School's Buddhist ministry program, Kanji is a pioneer in developing ministry that offers Zen-based pastoral counseling and support for spiritual seekers. He helps you to navigate issues of daily life -- your genjokoans -- and issues related to practice, addressing difficult emotions and challenging situations through open discussion; shared dharma wisdom; use of koans, precepts, and meditation; and integration of head, heart, and hara to help you find the answers that await you within your own original buddhanature. Reverend Kanji also is a contributing author to the book The Arts of Contemplative Care: Pioneering Voices in Buddhist Chaplaincy and Pastoral Work.
